Conflict sensitivity in crisis: a reflection providing conflict sensitivity support in the most difficult situations (Sudan, Afghanistan & Myanmar), organised by Saferworld
10 October 2022, 14.00 – 15:30 (CET)
Conflict sensitivity is arguably most important in moments of crises, whether humanitarian, environmental or political. Practitioners and proponents of conflict sensitivity are never more in demand than when things are going wrong and donors and aid providers are eager not to make things even worse. Yet despite this, such moments throw up unique challenges for the conflict sensitivity community: the urgency and scale of needs mean that analysis and long-term thinking can quickly go by the way side while conflict experts ultimately find themselves lacking access or influence as the aid machine cranks into gear. In this discussion, we’ll gather lessons from the audience and a panel of conflict sensitivity specialists working on contexts impacted by sudden crises in recent years on how they have adapted to keep conflict sensitivity on the agenda.
